Because of the high level of detail in this book and the fact that species information is spread across several sections, it makes it difficult to complete a quick and simple Kamana journal in the recommended time frame. It's also an expensive book if you have many other Kamana resources to purchase.
Mammal Tracks and Sign is worth it's weight in gold. BUT do not try to digest all the information for a mammal's journal. You'll get know this book well over time as you continue your tracking journey. It will be your most informative source.

Mark Elbroch is the lead author of Bird Tracks & Sign (0-8117-2696-7) and has written articles for periodicals and other publications on tracking. He has contributed to numerous research projects in North America, including the capturing and collaring of cougars and Glacier National Park's bear sign survey. He lives in Vermont.
Mark is a Kamana graduate and has recently updated andhass been added as an author of the Peterson's Guide to Animal Tracking with Olaus Murie.
